My speech

Why are we cutting and burning down our earthly and harmless trees?
I know!  people are cutting down trees to make money.

Hello my name is Alicia and I am going to convince you to save our earthly trees.

I bet you most people probably can’t care less about trees. They hardly give a thing on what they may bring in the future. But here's the question Do you know much about trees?Well let me tell you trees are amazing.

They give us oxygen that we breathe on.But what do we give back to those trees in return? We burned and cut them down. Why should trees be helping us to stay alive when all we are doing is cutting them down?

Without trees we would not be around living these days. You see trees give us medicene that cures our sicknesses. They also provide fruit so that we dont starve to death.Just think about it.Do you ever wonder why we are breathing and why we are living on earth today?Well if you do this is because trees!
People might think trees are useless and that blocks their view of something more beautiful.
Well anyways,
For example has anyone heard of the sahara desert?Well that desert used to be a beautiful rain forest filled with plenty of healthy animals and lots of water until chop chop cut cut there the trees went waiting to be demolished with big shredder machines.
Now it is called the Sahara desert because of this.

Would you like this to happen to another forest for example the amazon rain forest?

Well then STOP cutting and burning down trees and stand up for our earthly environment!

RWC Writing

Name: Alicia 02 November 2015

Recount Writing:  Our Rugby World Cup Supporters Shirts.

Title:The day we were surprised with All Blacks T Shirts!

On Thursday 29th of October Year 5 and 6 children went to the Library and waited for two Women from ASB to come.

When they arrived they introduced themselves.Their names were Donna and Sobahn. When they came through the door We saw a man with a box full of All Blacks t shirts!  We were so surprised when we saw the T shirts and could not wait to try them on!  Mr Ramkolowan picked the smallest kids first and saved the bigger ones for last. Most of the kids could fit it but some of them could not .After that we gathered together and took a nice big photo so the cameraman could post it on a website. It was a very fun day and I hope to see them again. He took another one with the boys doing the haka and the girls doing a pukana. Then he did one of the girls smiling.

On Friday it was black out friday So everyone had to wear black. The reason why we had to wear black was because we were supposed to support the All blacks and so they could win.Limi from room9 made a chant so the rest of  us were filmed  by Mr Ramkolowan  doing the big chant. In the Afternoon we walked around G.I center and sang that chant really  loud so that people could hear us.We came a cross lots of people that were cheering us on while we were walking. After we arrived back at school we got our bags and went home.

On Sunday I woke up at 5 am to watch the game which was All blacks vs Australia. As I was watching the game I felt very anxious because Aussie was catching up to the All Blacks. But somehow All Blacks were back on track and won the game by 34 - 17.I was sooo happy that I jumped up and down ! After the game was over we watched how Australia were awarded with silver medals for being runners up for the rugby world cup 2015.I felt a little bad for them but I got over it.then last but not least the All blacks were awarded their very own gold medals for becoming the champions of the rugby world cup 2015!Then they were given the webb ellis cup for four whole years!I can not wait for the All blacks to defeat another team in the next four years!

The end.

My Character description

As I turned around the steep path I saw the man…...

He looked terrifying in many ways. His blue as the sea  torn shirt following with holy pants made me take notice that he lived in the homeless. As he walked past me ,the smell of cannabis and tobacco made me already think that this man wasn’t  very good. The smell strangled me telling my lungs that they could not take the smell any longer. He gave a evil glare at me and made my heart pound very fast as if I was not going to go home safe.Once he left the dairy,  he left his dirty odour making people very  aware.

There was something strange  about this man that gave me the creeps.
I followed him past the flash  schools and  shops making sure that he did not escape. I had to do something about it. I thought fast. Then I saw a very long  rope that I thought would be good to catch this man with at the docks nearby. I heaved it and leapt at the man, pulling the rope tight around his small as a rat  body.
Frightened and suspicious, the people on the docks ran quickly to their little village  homes.
They closed their curtains not wanting to notice me and this man in between something very bad.But when I looked at his ugly  face it just seemed to be this little dwarf homeless man trying to ask for spare change and empty purses.I got this completely wrong and I felt guilty.

‘Sorry’ I said to the man in guilt.I made a complete fool of myself because why would I do this without a reason?I obviously don’t why I would do this to such an innocent man !I should have minded my own business instead of poking my nose into other people's business!

NZ Fern Tree

About the story:
This story is clearly about NZ Native trees such as the Silver fern tree. One of my favourite facts in  the book is that there are about twelve thousand fern species worldwide, and around 200 species in NZ! Isn't that cool?! Well let me tell you much more on the next page….

Facts about the Silver fern tree:
1.About half of all NZ ferns are endemic.

2.Ferns consist of leaves called fronds,a rhizome, and roots.

3. The Fern life cycle consists on two stages.
The sporophyte and the gametophyte.

4.  Ferns are vascular plants-they posses xylem and phloem.

5. The black tree Fern is NZ’s tallest tree Fern.

6. The largest ground fern in NZ is the king Fern.

The reason why I liked the book:

The reason why I like this book is because the tree is not just because It's my favourite tree,It is also from where I come from:New Zealand!

Ferns in the Future:

I think Ferns will succeed in the future even when I’m not around!Thank you for looking at my google presentation!

I'm learning Equivalent fractions

We have been learning about equivalent fractions. We made fractions from shapes. Photographed it and inserted it into our document. I learnt that 4/8 = 1/2 ,2/4  = 1/2, 2/8 = 1/4 and 2/6 = 1/3.
It was fun making equivalent fractions with shapes because we got to use different

I helped the man up feeling bad for him so  I gave him some coins and then he wondered of till there was
no sign of him. After that , I went home and I never saw him again.

The end.
