Chemical Change - Breakfast Cups

Screenshot 2017-11-07 at 2.23.32 PM.pngScreenshot 2017-11-07 at 2.24.16 PM.png

Today we did a baking experiment to see Chemical Change. We baked breakfast cups which contained..
  • Eggs
  • Baked Beans
  • Bread
  • Margarine
  • Spring Onion
After we baked them we immediately noticed that there was…
  • Release of gas
  • Colour Change
  • Change of temperature
A chemical change is a new substance that is irreversible. We noticed that there was a colour change in the Eggs and Bread. Although it was only for science, it was delicious!

Elephant Toothpaste Experiment

Screenshot 2017-11-02 at 12.45.52 PM.png

Today we spent the middle block completing an experiment. My reading group and I made Elephant Toothpaste to experience observing the Chemical Changes. Chemical Changes are results of new substances in which may be irreversible. While we were in our groups, once we we observed..
  • Colour Change
  • Bubbles Form

While observing the Chemical changes, I noticed that a while after the substance was left alone, the formula changed into a rather unpleasant mixture. From doing this experiment it helped me learn more about Chemical Changes. I hope that in the near future we get to complete more experiments.

Chemical Change - Fire

T4W3 : MONDAY
Chemical Change - Fire
Ask a question
What will happen if you combine the paper and the matches?
Construct a hypothesis( make a guess)
I think that the paper will burn.
Conduct the experiment

Record your observations and data:  Change of colour, release of gas,
Analyse information
Report results
Today we conducted an experiment on paper and matches. A chemical change is something that is irreversible after being formed. Before conducting the experiment, we needed to complete the scientific method which is..
  • Make an assumption (Guess)
  • Conduct experiment
  • Record observations
  • Analyse information
  • Report results
I made a guess that the paper would burn. While the experiment was held, I noticed…
  • Change of colour
  • Release of gas

As soon as the newspaper was burnt, there was a sudden change in the formula of the paper. It transformed into ashes. The temperature changed by quite a mile and there was clearly a release of gas. I believe this helped expand my knowledge in chemical change. I would also like to try more experiments to see how they are unable to be reversed.
