Summer Learning Journey Day #4 Activity #1

Today I will write down 5 questions that I would ask Sir Edmund Hillary.

1.) How did you feel as soon as  you reached the top of that mountain?

2.) If you could, would you climb the second tallest mountain?

3.) How did it feel when you were named Sir Edmund Hillary?

4.) Did your health take part in your success?

5.) If you could go back in time, would you change anything about yourself?

Kia ora Alicia,

It is great to see that you are participating in the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. You are making excellent progress! I really hope that you will have time to come back and finish up the journey with us. The programme is open every day until Friday 25 January 2019.

In the meantime, I have really enjoyed reading through your posts. I wish that we could have the chance to ask Sir Edmund Hillary all of the questions that you posed here. I thought that your question about his health was really insightful! I suspect that it played a major role in his ability to successfully reach the summit as he could deal with the limited oxygen that was available at the higher altitudes. Many others succumbed to altitude sickness and were unable to continue their trek upwards, given that they were not able to breathe properly.

If you'd like to see a short interview with Sir Edmund Hillary, filmed years ago, please check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbD3bdcIsus&t=163s

Hope to see you online again soon!

Cheers,
Rachel :)
