Cinematography:

This is the combination of the techniques described below. These techniques include camera angles, camera shots, camera movement and lighting.

Film techniques

Camera shots

A camera shot is the amount of space that is seen in one shot or frame.

Camera shots are used to demonstrate different aspects of a film's setting, characters and themes. As a result, camera shot are very important in shaping meaning in a film.

An extreme Long shot contains a large amount of landscape. It is often used at the beginning

of a scene or a  film to establish general location or the setting. Long shot contains landscape but  gives a viewer a more specific idea or setting. A long shot may show the viewers the building where the action will take place. A full shot contains a complete view of the characters. From this shot, viewers can see characters’ faces more clearly as well as their interaction with other characters. A close up contains just one character's face. This enables viewers to understand the actors’ emotions and also allows them to feel for the character.

An extreme close up contains on part of the characters face or other object. This technique is quite common in horror films. This type of shot creates moods and provides interaction between the audience and the viewer.

When analysing a film you should always think about camera shots and why they are being used.

Camera angles

It is important that you do not confuse camera angles with camera shots. Camera angles

Are used to position the viewer so that they can understand the relationships between characters. These are very important in shaping meaning in film.

. A birds eye angle is an angle that looks direct down upon a scene. This angle is often used an establishing angle, along with an extreme long shot, to establish setting.

. A high angle is a camera angle that looks down upon a subject. A character shot with high angle will look unreliable or small. These angles are often used to demonstrate the audience a perspective of a particular character.

. An eye level angle puts the audience on an equal footing with the character.

This is the most commonly used angle  in films so the viewers feel comfortable with the characters.

.A low angle is a camera angle that looks up at a character. This is the opposite of a high angle and makes a character look more powerful. This can make the audience feel vulnerable and small by looking up at the character. As with camera shots, you will be able to see many examples of camera angles in films. Think about the different camera angles and how they affect the way you feel about the characters.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a movie about a boy named Ricky baker that becomes a foster kid to a husband and wife named Hector and Bella. But a twist occurs leaving Ricky and hector on the run from a police officer named Paula.

Effects used:

(Go back to the notes  you wrote on camera styles and angles and list all the effects you can remember being in the film. Try to remember specific styles.)

In the next two weeks coming up,  there is a lot of work to be done to make sure the classroom is ready for the end of the year. Cultural practices are coming to an end and

classrooms are changing and year eight students are graduating the classrooms need

to be tidied and all students work need to go home hopefully we behave well enough to have a shared lunch.

Equipment:

- Rubbing alcohol

- Bottle (Plastic bottle)

- Matches

Method:

1. Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol into the bottle

2. Light a match (older people e.g parents)

3. Hold your bottle underneath the match while squeezing

4. Blow out your match so it produces smoke, and release the bottle

5. Immediately close the bottle tight with lid

6. Squeeze the bottle as hard as possible and then release -

the bottle should fill with a cloud.

Labour Weekend

On Labour weekend we were allowed to stay at home on Monday as well. In  Labour Weekend I got to go see my Aunty and Uncle with their two sons Nesi and Liam.We went to their house and played on the trampoline for a little while and then we watched

some TV. A few hours later we left and we actually told them to come to our house to have a BBQ. We were having lots of fun playing tag and hide and seek.

When we finished playing it was time to eat our dinner so we went to the shop to buy some yummy drinks to have with our dinner. We ate our delicious dinner and then me and my sisters did our chores so we could watch a cool movie. We watched shark tale and we ended up laughing through nearly half of it because it was a pretty funny movie.We wanted to watch another movie so my mum put in another DVD called Tangled. It was really entertaining with all of the songs and funny bits. A few minutes later my cousins fell asleep so we fell asleep too so that was pretty much saturday.

The next day my cousins went back to their house and it was cleanup day! We cleaned every room in the house and every single wall in the house. When we finished we felt so hungry and so thirsty and so hot so my dad organised a trip to the sunny beach!

We packed our stuff and our food and drinks then left to bucklands

bay. We played on the playground and had fun and then we had sandwiches and fizzy drinks for lunch. We then hopped in our togs

and ran into the nice cold water. It felt amazing! We were in the

water for over an hour and then we went back to the car for a snack because we ran out of energy. We ate some almonds and some Juice and then we were set to even more fun! We stayed in the water until sunset and then we went back home to have a shower and

relax. We watched an episode of KUWTK (known as Keeping up with the Kardashians), and then we ate some Ice cream and fruit salad.

And that was the end of Sunday.

The next day was the best day because we went to the pools for the whole day and we went out for lunch at a fancy restaurant. We got to go on the big slide and then we jumped off the side of the pool into the really deep water. We grabbed our inflatable pizzas from the car and then we filled them up with up with air so we could relax on the nice water. I almost fell asleep because it was so comfortable! After the pools we went to a fancy restaurant and we

ate some delicious food! After that we went back home feeling very very tired!

Writing assessment: I heard a whisper but no one was there

I was walking in a cold cold alley. My fingers were suddenly turning blue and purple.My face felt like it was in a ice cube and my feet felt the pain of pins and needles but I knew that I would be back home in no time. I reached half way out of the alley when I suddenly heard a whisper. It was so quiet that I couldn’t hear what it said. I decided to ignore it and continued walking. I then heard it again and felt shivers go down my neck.That’s when I knew I wasn’t alone.

I started to walk a lot faster until I heard the whisper again.My guts told me that I couldn’t take it no

more and to just look back but my brain told me to not look back. I didn’t know what to do so I looked back but no one was there.It felt frightening because I knew that the whisper wasn’t my imagination it was something or someone.I started looking in the bushes to see if I found any luck.I only ended up finding a few two dollar coins and a small rock but I was determined to find out what that noise was. The temperature started dropping so I started to look faster.

As I was looking, for the fourth time I heard the whisper. I was getting sick of it so I looked back but there was still no one behind me! My heart was beating a lot faster than usual! I knew that my legs were not very determined but my mind was still telling me to go. I started to look in the trees and by the logs but there was still no sign of anything. My eyes suddenly started to see blurry and things were coming out of my mind. I shaked my head a lot and things became more clearer. Then I decided to give up.

When I gave up I was nearly there when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I screamed and ran into the bushes until the person walked past. It had been about twenty minutes since I saw no one walk past. I walked carefully out of the bush and checked both ways.There was no sign of anyone.My spine felt as if it was frozen. I saw a dim light coming from the hills so I started to go down  to see if anyone was there and surprisingly I saw a small house. I quietly invited myself in and for  once it felt nice and warm and I smelt a delicious supper. I had to find who lives here. I checked all the rooms but they were all empty. The last three rooms left were the living room, the dining room and the kitchen.My stomach felt tight and my brain felt scared. I opened the door and found a surprise.

There were four fairies sitting on the table eating some yummy chicken soup! I then asked them,

“Was it one of you guys that whispered to me while I was walking?”

“Yes it was me I’m sorry if I scared you!” said the blue fairy.

“I was flying in the reserve to get some wood for the fireplace when I saw you. I whispered hello

then tapped your shoulder for attention! I’m sorry”

“It’s ok” I said and then they offered me some soup. I was thankful but I knew that my parents

were expecting me to be home any minute so I passed. I thanked the fairies then continued my journey back home.

Get to know me!

Hi my name is Alicia Malupo. I go to Glen Innes school which I think has the approximate of 200 students.I think school is pretty amazing besides the bullies and the bossy girls and boys. My favourite sport this year would probably have to be touch because it requires teamwork and ability to have strength. But what I really love about it is that at the end of the day we are all a team and that we support each other throughout the game. Oh I also have 3

sisters . You might remember one of them, Petuana who is a year 8,Jenascia who is year 7 and Neomi who is still a preschooler.When I have free time I like to go outside for some fresh air and I like to sit on a chair and read some books. My favorite series so far is Geronimo stilton and Thea stilton chapter books.I think my attitude towards work would have to be the average of a year 6 student but a bit higher like 99% of 100. I always look forward to learning

new things!I think my teacher Mr.Beel is pretty funny and cool but sometimes to be honest I think that it gets boring when it's quiet and I have to admit, I play a little game because this is how boring it is! I don't really think that he needs to improve because he is pretty much fine!

The dinosaur

One day it was 11:30 am in kentucky texas where there was a girl named Emma and

A boy named Jack. They came all the way from Australia for a holiday and they were

going on a tour bus to see all around the America.

When they went through the forests and over the lakes suddenly the couple spotted a

Massive creature. It wasn’t any creature, it was in the shape of a dinosaur! Wait. could

That be a dinosaur? No it couldn’t be! Dinosaurs had extinct millions of years ago so

why would it be one? As the couple walked towards the big creature to approach it

and suddenly they looked at the creature in disbelief. It was a T-rex dinosaur!

Jack nearly fell to the ground but lucky Emma caught him just in time so they could run into the tour bus and move as fast as they could ! But wait. What if they get the whole city in trouble? They tried hard to think what to do and the first thing that came up with doing is calling the army to bring massive guns,tanks  and to also bring protection for their safety.

As soon as they reached the town they let everyone know that a huge dinosaur was coming but they just laughed. They laughed and laughed until they heard the biggest roar!!! They all dropped their buckets and ran for their lives! As soon as they reached the breaking point they wanted to go faster and faster! They weren’t giving up on their lives!

When they went to a very safe place they all received water and food until their plane arrived.

They all went inside the plane and flew far away to another state. They all felt sad that they had to leave their hometown but it was worth not being eaten by a dinosaur! They all were

becoming happy and soon the whole country felt safe and they lived happily ever after!

My fractions math.

 Today Room11 did fractions with different denominators and this is what I did. I feel very proud of myself that I did all of the equations and I got all of them right.

Elstree park

This report shows what children and adults might want in the new park in Eastview that will be rebuilt in the near future. Here are some of the class suggestions.

Since the adults will take their kids to the park they might want to have a rest so the first thing that they can build is some seats so the parents don't have to stand up all the time to watch their children.

Our second suggestion is that If the adults want to exercise while

their children are playing in the playground then there could be a little fitness area in the playground. This is good so that they don't have to run out of their kids sight because they might lose their kids which could cause more trouble.

What if the children get hungry though? If the parents forgot to bring lunch for their kids then there could be a food facility with plenty of people making healthy lunches for the children so that they can fill their stomachs up with food so that they don't go hungry.  The park could have gas barbeque stations.  or/and places for food trucks to park and sell their goods.

Eating food means toilets.  There needs to be at least a few toilets to take care of the visitors.

There also needs to be fountains for both drinking water and decoration.

Thinking about the fun things now.

• There could be a flying fox for the kids so they can have lots of fun zooming up and down the line without being bored just playing on a normal slide.
• There must be a playground with soft landing for the children.
• A big slide for the big kids.
• A skatepark for the skaters.
• Basketball hoops to shoot balls.

A circuit to walk or run around the park.  With mini gyms at different points.

A stage or covered area (Fale) for people to sit, or perform.

Room 11 easter breakfast

Introduction:

Last week on  Thursday  Room11 went to the Library for a Easter Breakfast.

Paragraph 1:

When we walked into the library we could not believe our eyes!We saw a long table filled with Hot cross buns,Hot chocolate with marshmallows and three Easter eggs!Before we ate Mr Ramkolowan asked us to do some research about the meaning of Easter and to find out who was first to discover Hot cross buns.Then we ate the delicious food!

Paragraph 2:

When we ate the food we were all delighted because it was so delicious!

When we finished eating we cleaned up our mess and said thank you to Mr Ramkolowan

And waited until everyone was finished and then we listened to the piano which Jolie played on.

Paragraph 3:Before we left Mya,Sita,Hanatia and I took all of the cups to the school kitchen for a clean and Sive and Sunipa took the long table to the hall.

Conclusion: When we went back to class we all sat down and continued to do our daily work.

POWHIRI

This morning Glen Innes School held a special powhiri for a group of teachers and a principal from wairakei school in Christchurch.It was nearly the best preformance I had ever done! I reckon this was my favourite powhiri. Ever!

When the powhiri actually started it took a little bit long to wait for them to come but it was alright.When Mr. Shaun clicked his fingers it meant that we were all ready to go. Memory said her Karana and then Misty said her beautiful kai karana and last up was Jazire and her really good Karana. After that we sang a very powerful song which is called Hei runga hei raro to welcome them into our school as our school family for a while.

After that the principal of Wairakei school said a tiny speech to tell us more about himself and then we were very surprised because him and the group of staff actually sang a nice maori song! We were very proud of him because they pulled it off very well! We all gave them a round of a paws for being such good maori singers! When they finished singing They gathered in a line and began to hug in a maori way and then went to the staffroom as the kapahaka group sang songs like ahaka ma. After that all the classes started to go and then the group was still singing until me and Jazire had to go to the staffroom to be an ambassador to show them how to get to all our learning areas such as our class site and our drive. Overall I think that this powhiri was very fun and I am very excited to do it all again!

Prototec

It has stages from 1-9 and it has times tables from 2-10.There are also two options you can choose from. Timed is one where you will quickly get sums to answer before it's too late and sheet is just a normal easier way you can do your work because you don't need to worry about being fast.  My stage is stage seven and these were my results for the first time i tried it. As you can see my results were 72% and I took 21 minutes and 46 seconds to get it done.

Netball recount

It was 6:30 am when I heard my alarm clock. “Urghhhh” I said feeling half asleep. So I turned my alarm off.As I was on my phone until 30 minutes later  my friend Mya texted me saying “It’s 7:00 Alicia! We have our Netball tournament today!” I forgot all about it so I packed my lunch , filled my water bottle , and had the quickest shower ever before heading out the door like the flash.

When I arrived at school , I saw my friends wearing their uniforms and my Netball coach sorting the girls out in the bus. We were heading down to the AMI netball stadium. I had to say that I was pretty nervous versing other schools because we all heard that there were some schools that were pretty advanced. But we couldn’t think of losing. Even though some schools may be better than us , there was always a chance of winning. Anyways, when we arrived we saw so many schools there. We sat down on the Team seats and waited for our turn. When we were waiting I saw this one school that looked as if they knew they were going to win. I wanted to get more in this mystery but it was too late! It was our turn but we were versing the school that looked mysterious! Out of all our team I was the one that was mostly scared according to how tall the girls were,why they were always winning the games and how they looked.

After the first game I went to grab my energy drink. But when I went to my bag , on our versing teams seats I saw pills in each of their bags. When nobody was looking I quickly grabbed the bottle of pills and pretended that I needed to go toilet but actually I needed to

Tell my coach what had happened. I ran to her and handed her the bottle of pills. She asked me where I got it from and I told her everything.She grabbed my hand and we ran to the medical room. We gave it to the nurse and she told us that it was a powerful amount of drugs used to help play netball good. My coach told me to tell the referee. When I told the referee she stopped the game and announced , “Glen Brae netball team  have cheated!” “Oh Noooo!!” said the audience. “ G.I fantails win!"“Yayyy!” said the team. After the tournament finished we were proud to have taken the tournament trophy home! Anyways after a long day I went back home , had a shower and then relaxed playing on my phone.

That day was the best day of my life.

Haunted house

Planning

Characters: Francesca and Ronald

Setting: Haunted house

Problem: Ronald and Francesca Get lost into a creepy house.

Solution: They find their way out of the house from the beginning.

Conclusion/Ending: Francesca learns not to go near that house.

Moral: Never go to a haunted house ever.

The wicked haunted house in the neighbourhood.

It was  one sunny day in 1975 where a lady named Francesca lived in the beautiful state of Washington D.C. People were kind,loving and respectful,

except for one family living in one house. People would warn each other not

to go near or in their house because apparently the residents of the neighbourhood  would hear screams from the house.

A few days later Francesca held a birthday party for her daughter Anna.

“Thank you for coming to my birthday party” Anna said. Throughout the night people left and the music increased  up to the highest level  and people started to have a little bit more of the drinks they shouldn’t have. Francesca was so over the edge that she took a little stroll to the destination she shouldn’t have been at.

Meanwhile Francesca did not seem to care because there was a sign saying “Enter at your own risk”.

“What's that gonna do kill me?” Francesca said out loud. She climbed up the stairs and stood there.

As she stood there she looked back and when she looked front the door was open! Francesca snapped out of it but it was to late because she was already inside! Someone else came in which happened to be her dear friend, Ronald.

He snapped out of it too and they both took a brief moment and gulped.

“This is their house!” said Francesca.

“Who’s house?” said Ronald terrified.

“The haunted families house.” said Francesca , but at that moment they heard a screech.  Francesca was in the need of fainting and fainted into Ronald's arms.

Unfortunately at that moment the lights cut out and Francesca was still unresponsive.

“Francesca! Francesca! wake up!” said Ronald. Francesca woke up and said “Are we still here!”

“Yes!” now we need to find a way to get out of here!” they walked softly to what they thought was a exit but actually it was a creepy mirror!

They walked inside the mirror and to their surprise they saw something that was so horrifying that they both felt like fainting! There were over a thousand

skeleton bones just lying in a dusty pit! They both walked upon the nasty bones

And found a small hole leading to another place in the house when they climbed through the hole they thought that they were in the bedroom but they were actually in the kitchen! There was blood in the sink, stored eyeballs in the cupboard and human parts in the freezer and fridge! They opened one cupboard

that was completely empty with a big hole in it!  Again , they had to climb through it which was actually tiring than it sounds. As they climbed through the

Hole it appeared to be the longest tunnel you could ever imagine. It was probably as long as a whole corridor length! Anyways they finally reached the

end of the tunnel and saw the creepiest room of all! The parents bedroom!

They walked around the room when suddenly Ronald screamed,

“Ahhhhhhh the ghost has got me!!!!!!”, and dropped his bag on the floor.

“No this can’t be happening!” said Francesca terrified. She gulped about fifty times until she calmed down.

“Okay all I need to do is find Ronald and get out of here!” said Francesca feeling fearless. She grabbed Ronald’s bag and lit up the spare pack of matches and went through a portal which leaded to a few rooms until she saw Ronald.

Ronald was so scared that he literally froze. Francesca grabbed Ronald and

Ran to the exit because in that room she then realised that they were in the room that they were in at the beginning. She knocked the door down and they both ran back to her house. She opened the door and found that her daughter had already  cleaned up and feel asleep on the couch. Ronald then went home in a taxi and told her that it will be okay. When he left, Francesca now knows not to go near the places she shouldn’t be and from that night on Francesca knows not to wander off to places she shouldn’t be.
