Omaru Creek Game Plan
What I have learnt - Omaru Creek
During these past few weeks I have learnt a majority of facts and issues about Omaru Creek.
From dragonflies fleeing the creek to clogged sewage pipes clogged. To relate to the Omaru Creek we drew the Tamaki Family River Tree. We drew the creeks that connect to Tamaki River. We also used google maps to solve how long it would take and the kilometers to get from 124 apirana ave to our house. We then took a stroll to Omaru Creek to test its velocity. We used paper boats to see if they would float. A few others and I went to a River Talk and saw some locals talking abouts the creeks clarity and why our fish and eels are dying. Overall I think I have learnt a lot about Omaru Creek and I am happy that I have more knowledge about the creek.
Monday's Child - Omaru Creek
Monday’s child has painted cabbage trees in the learning of Omaru Creek.
Tuesday’s child has done a statistical investigation for how long it takes to get from Omaru Creek to her address.
Wednesday’s child has made a document on what her class needs to clean Omaru Creek.
Thursday’s child is making dragonflies with her class.
Friday’s child has gone to Omaru Creek to look at the amount of dirtiness it carries.
Omaru Creek Metaphor Poem - Te Taiao o Tāmaki
Alicia is a sad and lonely depressed eel whose parents were killed from rubbish.
Alicia is a slim old cabbage tree providing shade to keep the creek cool.
Alicia is an aquatic weed scared and frightened for her life to be eaten by the fish and eels.

Learning how to Name and Identify Fractions
Today I went on Interactive learning and learnt how to name and identify fractions. I played a pizza monster game and split certain pieces and made them equal. I got all of the sums correct and fed all the happy monsters. Overall I enjoyed this fraction game.

Swimming Sports 2017
Today was the senior syndicate's turn to have their swimming sports 2017. I hopped in and out two times to do two rounds of freestyle. Although I did not come first I still felt that I tried hard to accomplish the whole length of the pool. I did complete the whole length of the pool which made me very happy. I also had fun in the class relays and I told my friends that it wasn’t about winning, it was about having fun and trying hard. I had so much fun participating and contributing in Swimming Sports!

For our topic study we are drawing a Tamaki River family tree. We came across a few creeks. We were determined to find where this river had started then ended so we investigated on NZ Topo map. We saw that the river started in Middle More and ended in Waitemata Harbour

Investigation-Room 8's Volleyball Skills
Today we used a google spreadsheet to find the mean or average and draw graphs for our volleyball skills.
We then used our online tools to find our bar graph and pie graph. These are the graphs for my skills of volley, digging, serve, spike and block. We also used it to calculate the numbers to find the average. Overall I think the online tools were very easy to use.

Dragonfly Artwork
Today room 8 worked on Dragonfly Artwork. For what reason? Well we made these because it is linked to a healthy stream. Scientists have believed that if dragonflies are around a stream then it means that the stream is clean and healthy. However, if they are not hanging around the stream then this means that it is not very healthy and clean. As you know we haven’t found any dragonflies around Omaru Creek. It means that our creek is not healthy and it is dirty. With all of the communities help we can achieve a healthy creek and we can make it home for the dragonflies.

Get NZ Writing - Package Opened
This morning we all gathered around in a circle excitingly waiting to open the package
that we received from greymain school in the south island. As we opened it I saw a burst of colors bringing joyfulness to my eyes. My favourite writing piece on the massive paper was the part where they said what words they like the sound of. My favourite word that I can definitely relate to was “Home Time”. I really enjoyed room 14’s postcards and their all about me poster. I hope that they enjoy ours to!

Statistical Investigation
Google map Screenshot
|
Walt: conduct a statistical investigation.
We used google maps to determine the walking distance to 124 Apirana Avenue. This is the entrance to the Omaru Creek that we are studying. The screenshot shows the route, distance and time from my house to the creek. Furthest to the address was Jolie. It would take her 7 minutes to get to the destination and the millimeter will be 550mm.Harrison lives in East Tamaki so it would also take him 7 minutes aswell to get to 124 Apirana Ave and the millimeter would also be 550mm. Next we will be calculating the mean and the median.

Divisibility Rules
Today on divisibility rules I thought it was a bit easy but I still need to work on my division so that in the future I know how to do these type of steps. I hope that by the end of march I get five stars and then be able to do division and multiplication fast.

Descriptive paragraph:Berries
Glares were given as the bag ruffled open.I took a textured looking berry out of the bag.My fingers smoothly stroked the surface of the bumpy berry. I then put it closer to my nose and smelt the aromatic scent of the fruity berry. I took a big crunchy bite and a burst of fruitiness came to my tastebuds. I felt the smooth texture melting in my mouth that the berry had formed.Delicious!
